WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Each of us are designed differently and therefore will not have the same experience during a cleanse as it is dependent upon our level of toxicity at the time. The most challenging days are the first two and again depending on the level of toxicity some may experience detox symptoms such as fatigue, headache, irritability, and flu like symptoms. On the other hand, some may only experience minor fatigue the first day or two and then feel all the following benefits of a cleansing system:

PREPARATION

 

Preparing for your cleanse will assist in framing the right mindset as you begin, and make your transition into healthy eating much easier throughout and after the cleanse.For any questions you may have prior to starting your cleanse, please visit our Cleanse FAQ

Choose a time to fully enjoy the cleanse and engage with yourself. Having to attend any big social events can cause unneeded stress by temptation to eat processed foods, drink alcohol, or get little to no rest. Instead plan a time you have all to yourself where you can attend gentle activities such as yoga classes, meditations, walking groups, or even walking the pups. These can be especially beneficial to help deal with emotional detoxing and support during your cleanse.

Let your friends and family know that you are going to be preparing for a cleansing and ask for their support and encouragement.

Second - Consult with your physician before you start. This is especially if you are on prescription medications, have a serious illness or a weakened immune system. Our cleanses are carefully crafted to tailor to your body’s needs and chemical makeup, therefore it is imperative for us to know about any predisposed conditions or interactions you may have with any particular vegetable, fruit or superfood. We will discuss this in further detail during our consultation with you prior to scheduling a cleanse.

 

Rid your cupboards of any processed foods you don’t want to be tempted by during your cleanse, or want to eat after your journey. Most don’t experience hunger during a cleanse, but if you are hungry, it’s best to stock up on good foods and be prepared. It will also be nice to already have healthy items to go to once your cleanse is completed. Doing this will preemptively help you stay on track to healthy eating and what’s more, you’ll find your body will crave better foods!

 

While we don’t recommend you cleanse while pregnant or breastfeeding, we can offer suggestions to help with a cleaner diet. Learn more about this on the FAQ page.

BEFORE YOUR CLEANSE

In order to maximize your cleanse benefits and results, we recommend you begin by preparing yourself and your body 48 hours before your cleanse begins. Below you’ll find a list of things to cut out and things to begin doing. The more preparation, the better you will feel jumpstarting your drive for a more healthful self. Your body and mind will thank you for it, we promise!

 

Cut back on the following:

     

  • Nicotine

  • Animal Products - milks, creamers, cheases

  • Gluten - pastas, breads, wheat products/snacks

  • Caffeine - coffees and sodas

  • Alcohol

  • All Sugars - Processed & granulated

  • Processed Foods - Anything pre-cooked or in a box

  • Gums + Hard Candies - mints promote the release of digestive enzymes that make you hungry and they are comprised of artificial ingredients

 

If you eat red meat begin to cut it out of your diet and choose leaner meats such as fish or chicken with a nice big salad and/or steamed greens. Breakfast may consist of oatmeal with berries, spices and raw honey. Lunch may very colorful and hearty with a variety of veggies. Dinner may be savory with seasoned fish and a big salad or hearty vegetable/chicken soup. Be sure to begin staying away from processed foods. Be a grazer! Snack on all the organic fresh fruit, veggies, and nuts you want throughout the day. DURING YOUR CLEANSE

Chewing. Chewing is the signal that communicates to our brain that we are eating. The stomach and brain will typically communicate further when a full belly is reached. Since we have been chewing for most of our lives, not chewing may signal to the brain that we are not eating, and are not getting full. Even though on a cleanse with 6 juices a day, you are eating and getting full. The key to tricking the brain into knowing your eating and getting full, is to chew your juice. Yes. Chew your juice. Simulating the chewing action will continue to fire all the right signals as if you were crunching on romaine and almonds.

Continue to drink plenty of water. Simulate the chewing action with the juice, and drink water as normal. While you are consuming liquids, our bodies still need H2o hydration. Try drinking room temperature water with a squirt of juice from an organic lemon (no honey or sugar) upon wakening. It will help to detox, energize, and prepare the stomach for your morning routine. If you’d like to try doTERRA Lemon essential oils in your water for on the go, ask us about it during your consultation. You may also drink herbal (non-caffeinated) tea throughout the day between juices.

If you become hungry, it’s ok. First try consuming more water. Hunger and dehydration can sometimes feel the same. If the hunger still persists, snack on some raw vegetables, raw non-sugar coated nuts, warm vegetable broth, or make a salad with a vinegar or lemon dressing. It’s ok to eat - there is no pass or fail in a juice cleanse. It’s not meant to make you suffer so enjoy the cleanse and take the steps you need for YOU.

Rest rest rest! Get plenty of rest as it’s normal to feel a bit tired during your cleanse. Don’t worry it’s not permanent, your body is using energy to detox and restore. Give yourself a warm bath, schedule a massage, reflexology, a mani-pedi, etc. Pamper yourself and relax!

 

 

ENDING YOUR CLEANSE

 

 

Congrats! Coming off a cleanse is just as important as beginning one. The cleaner you keep your system, the better you will feel. We don’t recommend you jump on a Pedal City mobile to celebrate just yet! Gently transition back into whole foods for the next three days:

 

DAY ONE

Continue to drink plenty of water - even flavor your water with organic fruits, cucumbers or lemon. For break-fast, stop in and grab a smoothie or make your favorite at home with fresh ingredients, try some oatmeal, fruit, almond milk or make it an all in one! Lunch can consist of a colorful salad - veggies only.

 

DAY TWO

Add in some lightly steamed vegetables onto the menu. Dig up that soup recipe you’ve always wanted to try! Continue to stay dairy, gluten, and animal free until day 4.

 

DAY THREE

Begin to add hearty filling foods like quinoa, light legumes, have steamed/baked fish instead of red meats, and nut/rice milks instead of cow’s right away.

 

DAY FOUR

Today you should be able to reintroduce meat and dairy products if you wish - just take it slow. You may be much more in tune with your body and be able to recognize the foods that trigger inflammation now. Which is a great thing! Listen to your body as it will help you make better choices for the long-term so you can be your most healthful self.

POLICIES

  1. Credit card information is taken when you book your cleanse, and charged when you pick up your cleanse unless you choose to process that day. This acts as a deposit for booking your cleanse.

  2. Cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance prior to picking up your cleanse. You will not be charged. You can do so by calling the shop during normal business hours. Please make sure you speak to someone personally to avoid any miscommunication.

  3. Unfortunately we do not offer any refunds or credits for cleanses cancelled less than 48 hours before your scheduled pickup time. You will be charged in full for the price of the cleanse for any cancellation made after the 48 hours, and/or failure to pick up your cleanse.

WHAT DO I DO WITH MY BOTTLES DURING + AFTER THE CLEANSE?

Depending on the length of your cleanse, your sink may be full of bottles. Please rinse each one out after finishing your juice if you are able, and leave the lid off. Lids can be stored in a ziploc bag or a slot in the cleanse box. Keeps it from being stinky for you and us.

Once you have completed your cleanse, or are bringing some back to get more for your remaining days, bring them all in! You will receive a bottle credit for the total amount of bottles and lids we receive back. Ie. 3 Day cleanse = 18 juices = 18 bottles = $18 credit towards anything on the menu!
